On March 22, Milk Studios in Hollywood was the site of the VIP opening preview of Charming Baker’s solo exhibition Lie Down I Think I Love You. The artist’s largest show to date explored the unpredictable nature of love through 20 paintings, as well an over-sized sculptural installation of a plastic toy passenger plane, prints, and other sculptures.
Big names within the art world came to view the new body of work, including Hammer Museum Board of Trustees member Kevin Wall, Hammer Museum’s David Morehouse, LACMA’s Abby Bankser, MOCA’s Director of Communications Lyn Winter, and The Gagosian Gallery’s Candy Coleman, and artists RETNA, Bumblebee, Quam Odunsi, Nicholas Bowers, and Mear1. And this being LA, of course the celebrities, like Rosamund Pike, TJ Thyne, Rose Mcgowan, Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Atticus Ross, and Davey Havok visited the show.
