AM recently had the pleasure to visit the studio of multi-disciplinary artist Jen Stark as she prepares for her debut solo show in Canada tonight (6-10 pm) with Cooper Cole in Toronto. The LA-based artist’s process is meticulous and her studio is very well organized with numerous projects coming to life simultaneously. Instantly recognizable as her own, Stark’s work is rich in color theory and draws heavily from her interest in mathematics, deep space and the natural world. Take a glimpse below at her new body of work for Vortextural coming to life before it shipped up to Canada as well as take a look at the completed pieces here.
Stark’s work can be found in the permanent collection at The Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC and has exhibited at the Berkshire Museum, Pittsfield, MA, Sonoma Valley Museum of Art, Sonoma, CA; Naples Museum of Art, Naples, FL; Frost Art Museum, Miami, FL: Museum of Contemporary Art, Miami, FL and the Museum of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, among many others.
