Last Thursday, renowned artist and AM favorite Barry McGee made his debut with New York blue chip gallery Cheim & Read. The solo exhibition marked the return of Barry to the Big Apple after an eight year absence. The San Francisco Art Institute alumnus brought along a diverse arsenal of graffiti, folk and op art techniques for this prime showcase of his colorful and bold visual vocabulary. From his classic painted glass bottles to eye-catching clusters to sculptural gems to his immense “boil” installation, this exhibition was a veritable mini-museum showcase of McGee’s relevancy in the annals of art history. This show lasts until October 26th, so make a date to stop by if you’re in NYC. Until then, check out a detailed look below.
