It’s that time of year again where our eyes turn towards the festivities coming up in Miami for Art Basel Week (see last year). First up is news from Australian artist Jeremy Geddes (interviewed) who we haven’t heard much from since his sold out solo show at Jonathan LeVine (covered) last year. He just introduced three new pieces he painted for the New York gallery’s booth at Pulse Miami – Ascent, Eoan and Labent – meticulously detailed hyper-realistic oil on board pieces. With these paintings, Geddes is further exploring and developing familiar imagery and concepts – astronaut & pigeons peacefully floating in zero gravity / space with vines around them. Once again proving his impressive oil painting skills, feel for light & atmosphere, and exceptional use of a muted color palette, his works are surely worth a close up look if you’re planning a trip to Miami.
