Recently, we received final photos & video footage of an independent project that took place in Wynwood, Miami, during Art Basel Week last year. Initiated by the artists 2501 and Pastel, the Mirrorless project involves three crucial subjects – artist, home and people, that are actually the key elements of works through their interaction with the elements of the installation.
By creating and installing artworks and mirror surfaces around four different buildings, the Italian-Argentinian art duo played with simple optical illusions that were created. The artists got their inspiration from different stories they heard from people they met, making this site specific project even more focused on the location. By involving the observer and the architecture, the project makes a reference towards the connection between the neighborhood and the people that live there, and how they affect each other.
