Dallas Contemporary is currently hosting the 3rd edition (also see 2012, 2011) of MTV RE:DEFINE, a special art exhibition and auction event curated by The Future Tense and Peter Doroshenko and powered by Paddle8. Including a wide variety of works by internationally renowned artists such as Damien Hirst, Richard Phillips, Daniel Arsham, Joe Black, Katrin Fridriks, Kevin Francis Gray, Maya Hayuk, JR, Margaret Lee, Chris Levine, Jonathan Yeo, Sarah Lucas, as well as huge list of young, emerging urban, street and contemporary artist, all proceeds from sales will benefit the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and the Dallas Contemporary.
The included works vary in theme, size, mediums, techniques and subjects, and were all donated by the artists for this huge event. This way, the visitors and potential buyers have a chance to enjoy different kind of works ranging from sculptures or multi media installations, to collages, acrylic or oil paintings.
The works have been on view at Dallas Contemporary since 22nd of March, and the show will close with a gala auction event on Friday, 4th of April at 7pm. During that time, the works will be up for auction at Paddle8, and the hammer price will be decided during the main event taking both absentee bids and and bids from attendees. The organizer hope to raise $2.5 million from the sales of the tickets and the artwork which will be split between two worthy causes (seen below)
