Currently at Legion in San Francisco, Evah Fan has a series of works on display entitled A Waffle Lot. Curated by Alice Wu, the solo from the Oakland-based artist features gouache paintings on wood panels and paper, new prints, zines, and multiples. Fan’s human or animal subjects are often small when compared to the size of her pieces, which allows them room to wander freely in their environment, often times without standard boundaries. Her eclectic choice of imagery can perhaps be linked to her lifelong addiction to Mad Libs, and the free association it requires.
