Streets: Borondo – “Fer Llenya” (Barcelona)

Last month, Borondo painted a new mural in his native country of Spain for this year’s Open Walls Conference. Situated in Barcelona, the piece entitled Fer Llenya has local significance as it references castells, human towers built traditionally in festivals at many locations within Catalonia. Previews: Ron English – “NeoNature” @ Corey Helford Gallery

On December 12th, Corey Helford Gallery will be christening their new space in Downtown LA (address TBA) with a solo from Ron English (featured). Two years in the making, the monumental 22 piece collection of works entitled NeoNature explores what could happen down different evolutionary paths or in alternate universes, combining random creatures,elements of the natural world, and pop culture. Releases: Masakatsu Sashie – “Blind” Print

Fans of Masakatsu Sashie may be interested to know that Dynamo Editions has just released a print featuring his signature imagery earlier today. Entitled Blind, the image chosen features one of the Japanese artist’s floating globes of man-made objects and structures. Showing: Takashi Murakami -“Ensō” @ Kaikai Kiki Gallery

Currently on view through November 21st at the Kaikai Kiki Gallery in Tokyo is a show from Takashi Murakami entitled Ensō. Presented by Galerie Perrotin, the popup exhibition is planned to run concurrently with the Japanese artist’s 500 Arhats at the Mori Art Museum and continues his exploration on themes seen in Zen Buddhism. The Ensō (literally circle) symbolizes emptiness, unity and infinity, and you can see that the motif is used repeatedly in this new body of work. Releases: SHOK-1 // “X-Fly” Prints

British artist SHOK-1 recently released a series of X-Fly prints with Fruit, Bluebottle, and Fire variations. Mimicking his characteristic freehand x-ray spray technique from the streets, each of them are sized at 66 x 44 cm, limited to an edition of 50, and cost £140.00 with a discount if you buy all three as a set. The British artist further explains – “Like graffiti, flies are often perceived in a negative way but they can be very beautiful.” Discuss SHOK-1 here.

Previews: “Art Awakens” @ Gallery1988 (West)

Showing on November 14th and 15th at Gallery1988 (West) is one of their most anticipated shows ever – Art Awakens. Set to coincide of course with the release of The Force Awakens movie, the group show will feature work inspired by the Star Wars universe. The event is put on in partnership with Disney, LucasFilm, Bad Robot with the majority of the paintings and prints available exclusively on eBay to benefit UNICEF Kid Power. Releases: James Jean – “Adrift” Print

Starting November 17th at 8:00 AM PST, James Jean (interviewed) will be offering a new print entitled Adrift on his webstore for 24 hours only. The image is taken from the massive piece he painted for the Masterworks show in Long Beach (covered), which he also used the cover of his new book Pareidolia. Showing: Rosson Crow – “Madame Psychosis Holds a Séance” @ Honor Fraser Gallery

Currently on display at Honor Fraser Gallery is Rosson Crow’s third solo with the Culver City showspace. Entitled Madame Psychosis Holds a Séance, the new paintings and a short film explores the fictional world of Madame Psychosis, an aging showgirl obsessed with the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Streets: D*Face – “Catrina” (Mexico City)

Last month in Mexico City, D*Face (interviewed) painted a mural for All City Canvas entitled Catrina, of course inspired by the “Day of the Dead” celebration. The piece located at Av. Cuauhtémoc 273 in the Roma neighborhood is the last mural of the year for the CC Global Series, made in collaboration with British Council Mexico as part of the Dual Year UKMX 2015.
