This Saturday night (February 25th), Alex Gross (interviewed) will be presenting a new body of work collectively entitled Antisocial Network to his fans in Los Angeles. Hosted by Corey Helford Gallery, the new paintings continue to explore the pervasion of technology and social media in our lives and its deleterious effects of pulling us apart instead of bringing us closer together. His characters often have a distracted look on their face as they use cell phones (or even VR headsets) or just seem lost in their own thoughts or fading away. Mix these themes with the locally-based artist’s surreal imagery and painterly skills and you have a recipe for some intriguing pieces.
