Recently visiting New York City for the first time, Pejac took the opportunity to paint a couple murals that spoke to the city’s environmental impact, an issue that often plays a key role in his work. One of these was entitled Inner Strength (located at 2 Henry St), a elegant piece in Chinatown that makes effective use of the existing roll down shutter doors. By painting some of the reoccurring imagery in his work (cherry blossom and flocks of birds) bursting through in an illusory manner, the Spanish artist makes a clever and hopeful statement on the triumph of the raw power and beauty of nature.
