For our final look at Art Basel, we’ve included photos of the more striking and impressive pieces of work that were on view at Miami Beach Convention Center between December 5th – 8th. Comprising of sculptural works, paintings, drawings and installations, this selection includes both rarely or never before seen works by the big guns of the contemporary art world, as well as some pieces from new names and emerging artists debuting at one of the world’s leading art fairs.
We’re starting off with a poetic wooden sculpture by Gehard Demetz at Jack Shaiman’s booth and continuing on with Jack Pierson’s always popular and striking, text-based sculptural work on display at Regen Projects. With more works by female artists being included in galleries’ presentations through this year, it was great to see Louise Bonnet’s large canvas on display at Max Hetzler’s booth, captivating paintings by Robin Frances Williams at PPOW gallery, Koak’s big canvases and small drawings debuting at the fair with Altman Siegel, and the much talked about works by Nina Chanel Abney at Jack Shaiman and Pace Prints. Some of the usual showstoppers were definitely pieces by the likes of Peter Saul, George Condo, Keith Haring, Philip Guston, and Jonas Wood, among others, confirming fair’s position as one of the world’s preeminent art events, both in terms of presentation and sales.
