During Art Basel Week Miami, Leandro Erlich continued his impressive run of mind bending sculptural installations with a new one entitled Order Of Importance. Commissioned by the city of Miami Beach, the site specific intervention right next the ocean from the Argentinian artist featured a traffic jam of 66 life-sized sculptures of cars and trucks, a reflection of the current climate crisis. The massive project (Erlich’s largest to date) covers roughly two-thirds the length of a football field, with the partially buried vehicles reminding viewers of the sobering reality of Miami as one of the many coastal cities threatened by rising sea levels.
