Bay Area-based Brett Amory (interviewed) unveiled his latest paintings in his Waiting series for his exhibition, White Light at Anno Domini in San Jose, CA (previewed) on Saturday night. The Waiting series features anonymous snapshots in an urban environment, which is a commentary on an individuals’ seemingly impossible task of trying to find existence in society in which they are so detached. The work in White Light aims to express a sense of freedom and that we are able to choose whether we exist through the eyes and judgment of others or though one’s own terms. The result is a body of work in which the viewer to wonder whether or not the images are slowly coming into focus or just fading into the white.
