Perhaps influenced by the pop-up restaurant The Tree House (see video above) in Frankfurt for which he presumably curated the artwork for, Lazarides will be bringing the PRET A DINER concept in for his newest project in London. During Frieze and the London Restaurant Festival, from October 10 – 25, the gallery will be organizing a show and pop-up fine dining experience in The Old Vic Tunnels, site of 2010’s Hell’s Half Acre exhibition. Preparing the food will be top Michelin-starred chefs Nuno Mendes (Viajante, London), Matthias Schmidt (Villa Merton, Frankfurt) and Juan Amador, (Amador, Mannheim).
As for the art, participants scheduled so far include Stanley Donwood, Jonathan Yeo, Antony Micallef, Conor Harrington, Doug Foster, 3D, Ian Francis, ATMA, Michael Najjar and Lucy McLauchlan. They will be creating works based on their interpretation of the Greek legend of The Minotaur placed within a labyrinth installation. A three course meal including entrance to the exhibition will be priced at £75. Bookings will be available from 7pm and 9pm. Tickets are on sale here, but for those only interested in the art, the price will be £5 (free entry to under 16s), with a portion of the fee donated to The Old Vic Theatre Trust.
