On March 27th (private view on the 26th), Lazarides Rathbone will be opening a new solo from the Lisbon-based Vhils (filmed), his first there since 2012. Creating pieces with his special form of mark-making that mirrors his techniques on the streets, the artist otherwise known as Alexandre Farto will be presenting new compositions comprised of wood, billboard, metal and Styrofoam dioramas. Thematically based on the dilution of personal identity due to the oversaturation of by the realities of today’s society – profuse visual stimuli, mass media, urban development, technology – the new pieces explore the increasingly abstract sense of self and Dissonance in our lives.
