Following up on his recent Fall show in Los Angeles and Winter show in New York, Ryan McGinley will be opening a more comprehensive exhibition tomorrow (February 18th) in Italy. Hosted by the Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Bergamo (GAMeC) in Lombardy, The Four Seasons will be the first solo by the American artist at an Italian institution and the first one that the museum has devoted to a young photographer on the international scene. Comprising of over forty medium and large format works, the selected photographs are divided into four rooms, each corresponding to a season of the year.
Curator Stefano Raimondi explains, the exhibition “moves to the musical rhythm of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons: in each room there is a completely different sequence of horizons, colours, musicality and atmosphere, but they are all tied together.”
