Venue Change: Philip Lumbang – “Hug Life” (Warehouse Pop-Up Show)

One thing that’s constant in life is that most things are not constant. That’s what Philip Lumbang just shared with us. Just after we previewed Phil’s upcoming pop-up show last week, the Los Angeles Fire Marshall made a pop-up visit of his own to the remote warehouse location of the “would-be” show and decided to revoke the permits necessary for the event to occur. No worries, the show is definitely still happening on Saturday, September 12th as Phil pulled his back-up card and relocated to an even snazzier location. The […]

As the title of the show implies, “Nectar” focuses more on the sublime expressions of lust and love. The Dutch artist known as Delta (Boris Tellegen) showed off a diverse arsenal of new works (including sculptures, paintings and 3-D installation pieces) which depicted the complex layers and symmetry that we’ve come to expect from the graffiti artist. Dalek (James Marshall – interviewed) balanced out the show with this renowned “superflat” geometric colors and meticulous line-work. […]

Openings: Mode 2 – “Reality, Fantasy, And The Web” @ Lazarides (Newcastle)

Who can take a stack of hard cardboard or a cold brick wall and create a sensually hypnotic work of art? Mode 2 can. The artist known for his erotic urban techniques opened “Reality, Fantasy, And The Web” (previewed) at Lazarides last weekend. For a show that was created completely on location in the Newcastle gallery, it’s fascinating how Mode 2 was able to work with the gritty surroundings he was given and transform it into visually arresting and erotic snapshots. Check out all the images […]
