Upcoming: Kehinde Wiley – “Lamentation” @ Petit Palais

On October 20th, Petit Palais in Paris will be opening up a new exhibition from Kehinde Wiley entitled Lamentaion. For his first solo show in France, the African American artist will be presenting ten pieces (stain glass works and paintings), some created in his signature style of posing anonymous youths from urban centers in the same way the subjects in classical portraiture. Videos / Streets: D*Face – “Lovestruck” (Los Angeles)

Last month in Culver City, D*Face (interviewed) painted a new mural near the always busy 10 Freeway (seen best as you drive by the 10 freeway headed east passing Robertson Blvd) entitled Lovestruck. The British artist was in town to support the 10 year Anniversary Show at Corey Helford Gallery but took the time to leave something for his fans in the greater LA area. Releases: James Jarvis x Case Studyo – “AMPHORA” Vase

Case Studyo recently added a new product to their rapidly expanding line of artist collaborations with something they worked on with James Jarvis (interviewed). AMPHORA is a limited edition (run of 100) vase that features one of the British artist’s recognizable cartoon characters that is a play on the title of the piece (derived from the Greek “ampiphoreus” meaning “bearer”). This Saturday night (September 17th), Ozabu will be opening a small show in the project room of Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City. REMED x Okuda @ Campo Viejo Vineyards (Part II)

In 2013, Remed and Okuda collaborated on a sculpture in the vineyards of the winery Campo Viejo in La Rioja, Spain. Entitled A Bridge Between Sky and Earth, the installation which has become an icon for the wineries was recently repainted by the two artists in a colorful and vibrant palette. David Stoupakis x Joe Hill – “The Fireman” Limited Editions

David Stoupakis was asked recently to work on the limited editions of Joe Hill’s The Fireman book and boy did he deliver. Working in more color than he usually does, the New York-based painter used his artistic vision to beautifully bring to life scenes from the story about a worldwide pandemic of spontaneous combustion. Tomorrow night (September 15th) in New York, Daniel Arsham will be opening a show at Galerie Perrotin entitled Circa 2345. Currently in Brussels, Isaac Cordal’s show entitled La Comédie humaine is on view at La Médiatine. The series of sculptures and installations continues to document the lives of the little cement businessmen that the Spanish artist is known for, mirroring his work on the streets. It’s always interesting so see how the sculptor from Galicia uses the indoor space as he is able to expand on his public art with larger scale installations that further explore his satire and commentary on politics, bureaucracy, power, and environmental issues. Last week, Joshua Liner Gallery became the venue for Wayne White’s new solo entitled I’M HAVING A DIALOGUE WITH THE UNIVERSE AND YOU’RE JUST SITTING THERE. Transforming the New York showspace by taking over the walls with sculptural cutouts and murals, he then strategically embedded his paintings in place to complete the effect. The artist known for his witty word paintings (and his set and puppet designs for Pee-wee’s Playhouse) even transformed sections into what looked to be huge vintage painting – just like the ones he overlays his text onto.
