Currently at the 533 West 19th Street location of David Zwirner in New York, collaborative works collectively entitled Forgetting the Hand by Marcel Dzama and Raymond Pettibon are on display. This is the first time the two locally-based artists have worked together and their modified exquisite corpse technique of swapping a series of drawings to work on where part of what the other person did is concealed leads to some interesting results. Releases: Futura x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II collection

Starting next month, the Futura Chuck Taylor All Star II collection from Converse will be releasing at specialty retailers, Converse stores and online at Converse.com. This project with the NY graffiti legend will be the first artist collaboration with the redesigned Chuck Taylor All Star from the American shoe company. As you can see, the Brooklyn-based artist’s signature aesthetic can be seen featured on the sneaker (hi-top and the ox), apparel and accessories collection. Via Highsnobiety. Discuss Futura here.

Designed on Surface is a project Jasper Wong worked on recently with Microsoft, spanning 17 cities in 12 countries. Over the course of 5 weeks, the founder of POW WOW brought together a roster of artists including Mulga, Wonderlust, Noir, Bao, Pablito Zago, Andrea Wan, Andreas Preis, Frankie Cihi, Akmal, Persue, Odeith, Ink & Clog, Rosh333, Ano & Bounce, Lucas Aoki, Mon, Bakibaki, Cook One, Usugrow, Dragon76, Luise One, and Jay Shogo to paint walls inspired by the mantra “Do Great Things.” Take a look at more details […]

Shepard Fairey Residence For Sale

Ever wonder what the the house of a successful artist like Shepard Fairey (featured) looks like? Tastefully appointed and filled with his iconic imagery apparently – according to photos from the recently listed residence for sale in Los Feliz. It can be had for $1,835,000, but no word as to whether the art will be included. Basel Week Miami ’15 / Streets: Nychos

Another artist that left their mark on the streets during Basel Week Miami last year was anatomical enthusiast Nychos. The Austrian artist celebrated his birthday during the week of art festivities by leaving this burner behind in Wynwood Cafe entitled Strike Eagle, finishing despite being stopped by the police for a few days. Art Focus: DU Kun

This week’s Art Focus is on artist DU Kun and his surreal portraits of Chinese rock stars rendered as temples built into the sides of mountains and cliffs. The faces of each subject is assembled with a mystic combination of elements such as air, earth, and water leading to a god-like temple structures overlooking their own fiefdoms and worshippers (not unlike how recording artists have rabid fan communities). A couple months ago in Santa Ana, California, Ben Eine painted a mural utilizing his signature text-based imagery with the words “Suenos Revolucionarios” or “Revolutionary Dreams.” Arranged by Marcas Gallery, the piece was considered by the British artist as one of his best walls in the last few years and it’s not hard to see why. Openings: Shag – “Jungle Drums” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Last week in Los Angeles, Shag (interviewed) brought a little retro chic to the new Corey Helford Gallery location with his latest solo entitled Jungle Drums. Along with his signature paintings featuring a nostalgic look back when mod characters hung out sipping martinis, the downtown LA showspace also featured tiki sculptures, a mid-century decor, as well as a large wall covered with his imagery.
