Upcoming: Amy Sol – “Garden Gamine” @ Thinkspace Gallery

The last solo we had the opportunity of attending from Amy Sol (interviewed) in Los Angeles was back in 2013 (covered), so it was nice to hear she will be presenting some new works at Thinkspace Gallery soon. Entitled Garden Gamine, the set of fresh paintings will continue the Nevada-based artist’s series of delicate portraitures featuring her feminine subjects and their animal friends. An example of this can be seen above, but plan to be there for the opening on April 2nd to seen the rest. Discuss Amy Sol here.

Streets: World Roundup (Nov 23 – Jan 18)

Leading off the return of our Streets: World Roundup feature this week is a tribute from Jimmy C of rock icon David Bowie in the Brixton neighborhood where he was born. Londoners used the mural (photo: Tim Ireland/AP) as a makeshift shrine as visitors left gifts, flowers, and mementos at the feet of the image of Bowie as his one of his alter egos, Aladdin Sane. Upcoming: Erik Jones @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

After a showing at the end of last year in Italy (covered), Erik Jones has already started to work on a new series of paintings. The new batch of originals are destined for an exhibition closer to home for the Brooklyn-based artist at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in April, his first with the Chelsea showspace. As you can see, he will be presenting more of his vibrant portraiture, infused with abstract forms that could be said to represent geometric high-end fashion. Discuss Erik Jones here.

Boris Tellegen x Maurer United Architect – “Lucy Nomad Pavilion”

The abstractions of Boris Tellegen, or DELTA from his graffiti days, have always had an architectural feel to it, especially those that he has taken in a sculptural direction. This can be perhaps attributed to the Dutch artist’s industrial design engineering background and in fact, he has taken on projects before that have utilized his aesthetic to create something concrete in the form of real world structures. Previews: “Conjoined 666” @ Copro Gallery

Tonight (January 16th) in Los Angeles, another Conjoined show opens (see 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011) at Copro Gallery with this one dubbed “666” for good measure. Curated by Chet Zar as usual, the sculptural group exhibition features “classic sculptures, hyperreal life like models, surreal assemblages, mixed media paintings, and other conjoined works.” Fans of the dark arts should stop by tonight and bring $6 for the entry fee. Hush Curated Decor For Vandal Restaurant (New York)

After working with the TAO Group on their NY downtown location by installing some of his art work in 2013 (covered), British artist Hush (interviewed) was recently asked to curate the decor for a new restaurant located on the Bowery on the Lower East Side called Vandal. Aaron Horkey x Blood Milk Instagram Giveaway

Artist Aaron Horkey and Jess of Blood Milk Jewels recently teamed up for an Instagram giveaway. Cyrcle. // LA Kings @ Continental Grand Plaza

As part of a project with Branded Arts, art duo Cyrcle. (featured) recently installed two large pieces at the Continental Grand Plaza. Situated inside the corporate headquarters of the Los Angeles Kings in El Segundo, the two works are a striking works of art that welcome visitors into the building. Previews: Nick Walker @ Quin Arts

On January 21st (6-9pm), Nick Walker (interviewed) will be opening a solo show at the Quin Hotel in New York. As the hotel’s inaugural artist-in-residence, the British artist already has 15 original pieces for display in their permanent collection. The newest body of work will be sure to put his stencil skills on display as well as bring us along some further adventures with his iconic Vandal. Discuss Nick Walker here.
