Releases: James Jean – “Duelist”

Described as “a love triangle for the ages, confounding flesh and reason, for all eternity,” James Jean’s (featured) new limited edition offering is printed on silk. The nine color silkscreen print is 36 x 36″, produced in a run of 100, and comes with signed and embossed certificate of authenticity. Our astute readers will notice that the imagery for this new scarf comes from one of the pieces, Duelist, displayed at our City Of Fire exhibition in Beverly Hills. Purchase it here. Showing: Matt Small – “Seen and Heard” @ Blackall Studios

Last week, UK-based painter Matt Small (interviewed) opened a new solo show at  Lackall Studios in London with a new body of work derived from his experiences while working on a youth empowerment project. Entitled Seen and Heard, the exhibition consisted of a series of portraits rendered in Small’s characteristic swirl of colors and attempts to bring a positive light to a subgroup of society that is often viewed negatively. Not only did the Outside Lands festival in San Francisco feature a great lineup of musicians (Neil Young, Santigold, Stevie Wonder, Jack White, and more), a select group of artists were also invited in to paint some murals. Damien Hirst Flag Part Of London Olympics Closing Ceremony

With the Olympics coming to an end, all of London celebrated with a star-studded and rousing closing ceremony featuring some of England’s greatest cultural exports. Damien Hirst was asked to design one of the many renditions of the Union Jack in his signature spin-painting looking motif which was unveiled as part of the event.
