Videos: Dabs Myla – “Christmas Mural 2011” (Los Angeles)

Late last year during the holidays, we brought you pictures from Dabs Myla‘s latest mural which took place in the Culver City of Los Angeles (covered). It turns out the project (set up through Branded Arts and Thinkspace Gallery) has a story behind it that could be just as interesting as the aesthetic value of the mural itself. Filmmaker and AM contributor Carlos Gonzalez documented the project from beginning to end and got a chance to hang out with the couple during this entire process. The result […]

David Choe Paints Tribute To Beaten Asian Teen

By now, everyone has probably seen the video that went viral which showed a group of people brutally beating a Chicago teenager. Thankfully, it sounds like the Asian victim of the racially motivated attack appears to not have sustained serious injuries. David Choe (featured) recently painted this tribute mural to hopefully bring attention to this issue as well as get some of these cowards put in jail if they can be recognized. See what he had to say after the jump…

More murals and video after the jump…

Apparently, Guillotine was on hand to document some live-painting action as the NY graffiti legend showed off his spray control. Discuss Futura here.

Streets: Phlegm – “Wingsuit”

The ever-busy Phlegm has painted another whimsical mural depicting his fascination with flying devices, with this being a wearable version. Wingsuit, with excellent placement, is only one of a recent slate of walls the Sheffield-based street artist has worked on while taking a break from working on drawings for his new book. A closer look after the jump…

Preview: Eric Joyner – “It’s A Jungle Out There” @ Corey Helford

Transporting his beloved robots and donuts into a natural setting, Eric Joyner’s (interviewed) newest paintings will feature a nice contrasting backdrop for his favorite subjects. Robots using elephants as beasts of burden for their donuts, giant beasts and plant life fighting robots for their fried sugary treats, giant donuts seen far in the horizon of lush landscapes – there are just some of the imaginative imagery awaiting showgoers when Corey Helford opens its doors to It’s A Jungle Out There on this Saturday night, January 21st.
