While AM is cavorting artists, fellow bloggers, and industry friends at Art Basel Miami Week, the rest of the art world is not coming to a complete standstill. For example, later tonight, Dec. 1st, across the pond at Onethirty3, Hush (interviewed) will be unveiling a new installation at a new show that will include videos and photographs that document the first year of the gallery and project space. Check out more installations pics after the jump…

Videos / Basel Miami Week ’11: Marco Brambilla – “RPM” for Ferrari

As you may have guess, AM has already touched down in Miami for this year’s Art Basel Miami Week. We’ll start off our extensive on-site coverage of the biggest art party of the year with this new video, RPM, from Marco Brambilla (who worked on Kanye West’s Power video & and also created video montages for The Standard Hotel in NYC) that was commissioned by Ferrari for their latest auto masterpiece – the 458 Spider.  This new work from the NY-based artist is a “visceral, cubist […]

Update: Scott Musgrove – “Walktopus” Bronze

We’ve featured some of Scott Musgrove’s (featured) bronze sculptures before in the past here on AM, but this newest one may be our favorite. Walktopus stands five feet tall and will feature working candle lanterns when finished. Next up is to get this clay sculpt molded and cast in bronze by the good people at Metalphysic in Tucson. A couple more photos after the jump…

Teaser: Invader – “Attack of the Space Waffles” @ The Outsiders

On December 2nd, The Outsiders Gallery on Greek Street in London will be hosting Attack of the Space Waffles, the newest solo from the infamous Invader. Just like his show in Paris (covered) back in June celebrating his 1000 piece of street work, there will be an appearance of Space Invader shaped waffles, which is also hinted in the title of the exhibition. Also purported to make a showing at the opening will be a “brand new mosaic Alias’, an Invaded Disco Ball, a 20 […]

The Underbelly Project (Paris)

As the Underbelly Project preps for the festivities for Art Basel Miami Week, word comes (via Brooklyn Street Art) of another satellite undertaking in Paris. Featuring the same daring tactics as in New York, the smaller French version (also organized by Workhorse and PAC) includes artists Conor Harrington, SheOne, Saber, How & Nosm, C215, Alice Pasquini, Will Barras, Futura, and Tristan Eaton. More photos by Ian Cox and Martha Cooper after the jump…

Video / Preview: Swoon – “Murmuration” @ Black Rat Projects

We mentioned this a couple weeks ago, but now is a good time for a reminder to make your way down to Black Rat Projects on December 1st for the unveiling of Swoon’s (interviewed) newest showing. Entitled Mumuration, the project has taken the Brooklyn-based artist three long weeks to create, transforming the gallery into an immersive installation featuring her signature intricate and elaborate paper cuts and sculptural shapings. Take a look at a recent video after the jump to get you in the mood…

Streets: Conor Harrington – “Decline of the West”

Conor Harrington (interviewed), who has been on a roll with a steady spate of street murals, has uploaded photos of another piece he painted recently entitled Decline of the West. We would have to say that this has a rather nice placement, and although we aren’t sure where it is located, Conor has been spotted around London with this another recent collaboration with Ronzo. More photos after the jump…

Basel Week Miami ’11: Underbelly Show

Remember that secretive and unprecedented undertaking in New York last year entitled the Underbelly Project. Toiling four stories underground in an abandoned subway station in New York, over 100 artists invited by PAC and Workhouse left their mark on the space with murals and graffiti. Although the original “urban gallery” was sealed and unaccessible, this environment will be recreated in Miami for the Underbelly Show opening from Dec. 2 -5 (78 NW 25th Street in Miami, FL). Not only will the exhibition feature photos that documented […]

Openings: Boris Tellegen (DELTA) – “ABUNDANCE” @ Alice Gallery

Just the other night, the Alice Gallery in Brussels played host to a new body of work from Boris Tellegen aka Delta. This time around, Delta brought a wide variety of works collectively entitled Abundance to the table including paintings, collages, installations, projection […]
