Preview: Dalek & Greg Lamarche – “Geometric Balance” @ Show & Tell Gallery

Tonight in Toronto, a pair of geometrically inclined artists will be teaming up at the Show & Tell Gallery. Aptly named Geometric Balance, the joint showing will feature Dalek’s (interviewed) space monkey abstractions and Greg Lamarche (interviewed) typographic shapes. It will be interesting to see how their work meshes together when displayed in a side by side setting. Take a look at more preview images after the jump…

Streets: Blu & Escif (Spain)

It looks like Spanish street artist Escif, who recently hit up San Francisco with his friend San, has changed tag team partners. This time it’s prolific street satirist Blu, who recently himself was working with Ericailcane in Italy at the FAME Festival. Time Release Print: Audrey Kawasaki – “Charlotte”

AM stopped by for a visit with Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) yesterday and caught her in the midst of signing her next time release print. If you remember, she put up a couple paintings for a fan vote back in May with the consensus winner being the image you see above – Charlotte (which originally exhibited at the Suggestivism show). We’ll have more details later but look for an early August release date. Also, as you know, she’ll be showing at Merry Karnowsky at the end of the month. […]

Over the last several days, we have brought you photos of Kenny Scharf’s (interviewed) in-progress piece for the West Hollywood Library Project as well as RETNA’s (featured) facade work on the opposite wall. It’s now time to show you the third street artist enlisted for this set of murals – Shepard Fairey (featured). After spending four days in Philadelphia last week working on a mural, Kenny Scharf (interviewed) returns to Los Angeles to paint his wall for the West Hollywood Libary Project. It will probably take a couple more days for him to finish, but when it’s done, it will stand alongside murals by RETNA (covered) and Shepard Fairey (more on this tomorrow). FAME Festival ’11: Ericailcane

As is often the case, where Blu goes, his compatriot Ericailcane goes. We only brought you the “billiard table” mural from Blu yesterday but actually they both visited Southern Italy together this year to get up for the FAME Festival. This Friday night (July 22nd) in New York, the LA-based artist Chet Zar will be opening his latest solo show at the Last Rites Gallery. Known as the master of the groteque and macabre, he’ll be bringing a series of portraits of some new characters all presented in custom frames. The title of the show, Faces of Death, is named after a mondo film from 1980. He talks about this and much more in an interview with AM after the jump…

After bringing you Moneyless and Cyop & Kaf, we are happy to say Italian superstar Blu has painted his mural in town of a giant billiard table. Video: “Buff Monster Does Hollywood”

Last week, we brought you some photos of Buff Monster (featured) working on a spot above Hollywood Boulevard with pink paint and wheatpaste. Now comes footage of him in action leaning over the edge of the roof as well as a closer look at the “10 Years” stencil, a reference to the 10th anniversary of drawing his first signature character.
