From January 12th-16th, Elms Lester will be showing Adam Neate’s (interviewed) work at the first ever Art Stage Singapore. Releases: Arkitip Issue No. 0056 – JR

It seems like Arkitip has been involved in some pretty cool projects recently including the Andrew Schoultz show at their space in LA and the recent Jose Parla x Incase releases. Sketchbook: Yoskay Yamamoto (Part II)

We continue our look at artists’ sketchbooks with a peek at Yoskay Yamamoto’s (featured) recent efforts.  You may remember that we had brought you a glance through his sketches almost a year ago.  In fact, Yoskay was one of our first sketchbook features.  He most recently showed some work at Roq La Rue (covered) where the tried a new medium – paintings on paper – we’ll see if this continues in 2011. Update: Joe Sorren

Even though his epic exhibition Interruption at the GCAC (covered) is still showing, Joe Sorren (featured) is already back to work doing what he does best – painting.  This new commission piece that he recently finished is a piece for a friend and fellow band member. We look forward to seeing what is in store for Joe in 2011 including an animation project and a show in Italy at Dorothy Circus in October. Discuss Joe Sorren here.

Openings: “Never Judge” @ StolenSpace Gallery

Never Judge, a group show where a diverse group of artists were invited to reinterpret their favorite book covers, opened recently at the StolenSpace Gallery in London. Classics like 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, 1984, War of the Worlds, and Beauty and the Beast had their covers redone by artists like Art Under Pressure, Shepard Fairey, Eelus, and Will Barras. Teaser: “Ed Ruscha: Road Tested” @ Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth

Ever since his first road trip (Oklahoma City to Los Angeles) in 1956, Ed Ruscha has been inspired to create work from images he has encountered on the roads of western United States including his famed “Standard Stations” and the “Hollywood Signs” paintings. “Ed Ruscha: Road Tested” at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (on view January 23 – April 17, 2011) will retrospectively consist of approximately 75 works and will include key images based on Ruscha’s love for car culture and travel. Releases: Mark Ryden – “Yoshi – The Forest Spirit” Poster

It looks as though there will be a new release from Mark Ryden, a reproduction of his painting Yoshi – The Forest Spirit, based on a painting seen at Art Basel Miami at the Michael Kohn Gallery booth in 2007. Priced at $250, sized at 19 x 23″, and with a run of 1000, the edition will be available presumably on January 15th from Portherhouse with the proceeds to benefit The Nature Conservancy.
