Nuart ’10: Vhils & More

It’s time for another update from Stavenger, site of the Nuart Festival. Looks like Vhils is in town now chiseling away at another masterpiece. We had only recently enjoyed his work at the fantastic Eurotrash show and the Viva La Revolucion exhibit so if you have not seen the textures of his work in person, you are missing out. The good people over at OFIVE.TV have released some video footage of the Takashi Murakami Exhibition in Versailles. Last Friday, San Francisco celebrated an amazing ten year run for Fecal Face, source of all art in the Bay Area. The ten year anniversary show held at The Luggage Store included many of the artists that have been featured on their website of which AM’s readers are sure to be familiar with as well. Some new pieces from Banksy recently popped up on Wooster Collective yesterday at undisclosed locations although somewhere in the UK is a pretty good bet. Playing on some pretty classic themes we have come to expect from Mr. B, these street pieces with presumably no strings attached remind us of why we love the elusive street artist. Last Saturday, the long time running publication BLAB! completed its makeover with their reoccurring show at Copro Gallery – this time as BLABWORLD. The renamed anthology of comics, illustration, and graphic design from Monte Beauchamp focused on thematic works based on “scenes from THE HEREAFTER” and a nice slate of artists obliged with their unique interpretations. This Saturday night, German duo Herakut will be opening their show, “Hope’s Reply”, at LeBasse Projects. As opposed to previous exhibitions where they have gone all out on installations, but this time, the new body work work will be displayed in what’s billed as a more “white walls” setting.
