Openings: Logan Hicks & C215 – “Parallel Universe” @ Show & Tell Gallery

Renowned stencil artists Logan Hicks (interviewed) and C215 opened their joint show “Parallel Unverse” at Show & Tell Gallery last week.  For their first show in Canada, the NY based Hicks brings his familiar architectural inspired cityscapes and Parisian artist C215 once again channels emotions from the human subjects he favors. Interestingly enough, the two friends will had some collaborative pieces as well (previewed). More pics after the jump…

Preview: Doktor A – “Freak Machanique” @ Lift Gallery

Doktor A, who is considered by many to be one of the pre-eminent “customizers” out there, is opening his show “Freak Machanique” tonight in Detroit. Openings: Amy Sol – “The Wilderness Buffet” @ Copro Gallery

We stopped by to check out the opening of Amy Sol’s (interviewed) show “The Wilderness Buffet” in the large room at Copro Gallery last weekend. While taking in Sol’s new body of work, one can’t help but get drawn into her world of soft colors and and serene landscapes. Video / Preview: Jeremy Asher Lynch – “Natural Wonders” @ LeBasse Projects

Artist and videographer Jeremy Asher Lynch is participating in a three person show tonight entitled “Natural Wonders” at LeBasse Projects along with James Roper and Kevin E. Taylor. Jeremy, who also runs Modus Films, produced a video from his “A Fly on the Wall” series where we take a look into his everyday life as he prepares for this show. Armsrock for Glow 2009

Armsrock (interviewed) has put up an interesting installation for this year’s GLOW – International Forum of Light in Art and Architecture in the Netherlands. A series of 18 x 18 cm photo-slides which engravings he did with an etching needle were then projected with Pani projectors through out the city of Eindhoven.  More images after the jump…

Preview: Tim Biskup – “I Hate Everyone But You” @ Barracuda

Perhaps inspired by the recent Astro Boy movie, Tim Biskup has painted the robot hero in his signature multi-faceted style for his show “I Hate Everyone But You” opening tomorrow night at De La Barracuda. Biskup’s first show in LA since 2007 will be somewhat of an retrospective but also include new pieces like the one above and a “Darth Vader” piece seen after the jump. Also making an appearance will be multiple sculptural pieces as well as prints from his friend Matt Goldman (from MFG).

Openings: Stella Im Hultberg – “Penumbra” @ Copro Gallery

Last weekend, after a nice Izakaya dinner with the artists, the AM crew headed over to Copro Gallery for the three person show (Stella Im Hultberg, Amy Sol, and Nicoletta Ceccoli).  Stella flew all the way from New York to attend the show and brought with her a new darker and more brooding body of work. Streets: Blu in Bogota

Blu is one of those street artists that always makes an effort to create pieces that are socially relevant to the area he is working in (ie Milan and Taranto). Preview: Brian Despain – “Requiarium” @ Roq La Rue

Friday night, Brian Despain (interviewed) will be treating Seattle residents to his cadre of robots and their adventures.  Despain is able to imbue his mechanical characters with emotional depth as they interact with companions from the natural world set against an often lush background. Despain’s “Requiarium” is set to open Nov 12th at Roq La Rue alongside John Brophy’s “Saints and Angels.” More preview images after the jump.
