Nike recently released their collaboration with Romon Kimin Yang (Rostarr) featuring his calligraphy-inspired imagery on a selection of running footwear and apparel. While working with the company on the design of the collection, the New York-based artist was inspired by run crew culture and marathons leading him to embed abstract runners into his pattern of brushstrokes. Following up on his sold out Au Jus, Triumph, and Anonymous collaborations with the 1849 Wine, SABER (interviewed) recently released another bottle he designed for the wine company. Iris is of a 2013 vintage, a pinot noir “rich with dark cherry aromas accented with notes of violets and spice, supported by toast and the faint smoke from the barrel.” The label features imagery taken from the graffiti artist’s Tool of Dissent painting, a burst of colors created in his distinctive urban calligraphy. Case Studyo recently added a new product to their rapidly expanding line of artist collaborations with something they worked on with James Jarvis (interviewed). AMPHORA is a limited edition (run of 100) vase that features one of the British artist’s recognizable cartoon characters that is a play on the title of the piece (derived from the Greek “ampiphoreus” meaning “bearer”). Releases: Luke Chueh Hand Painted Masks

On August 22nd, Luke Chueh (interviewed) will be releasing several variations of a mask based on his iconic sad bear character. Set to be available through 1xRUN, they were created and hand painted personally by the Los Angeles-based artist while in Detroit for a show (covered) at Inner State Gallery earlier this year. The duvet cover set and pillow covers highlight different stages of his career including the space monkey phase as well as the current geometric pattern-based work his is known for now. Release: Erik Parker New Kawela Surfboards

Recently, Paul Kasmin Shop released a set of three New Kawela surfboards designed by Erik Parker, hand shaped by Rockaway legend Joe Falcone for Pilgrim Surf + Supply and glassed by Sean Brewer. Offered in three different shapes (Egg Shape Single Fin, Rocket Fish, and Micro Fish), each limited edition board is custom made and will cost $3500.
