This Friday night, the newly renovated Ace Hotel in Los Angeles will be hosting a screening of Takashi Murakami’s debut movie Jellyfish Eyes. The live-action feature film, the origins of which Murakami dreamt up over 10 years ago, will be shown at the historic theatre at the downtown hotel. It looks like there are tickets still available, including the premium package which includes the official Jellyfish Eyes book and a limited edition new sculpture produced by the artist for this event only. After painting a whole train back in 2011, Brazilian brothers and legendary graffiti artists, Otavio and Gustavo Pandolfo aka Os Gemeos, recently raised the bar even further. In collaboration with the Brazilian national football team, and GOL Airlines, they painted the whole 737 Boeing that will carry their national team and personnel during the World Cup. We recently brought you a look at artists at work on the Urban Nation’s Project M/4 in Berlin, curated by Thinkspace. The last time we were able to experience Walton Ford’s work in person in New York was in 2011 when he blew us away with his surreal portraits of King Kong as well as his well known naturalistic paintings. This time around, the American artist’s return to Paul Kasmin Gallery featured large scale watercolors of his chosen creatures in unusual and and ironically unnatural urban and outdoor settings.
