The Water Tank Project (New York)

If Tom Fruin’s Watertower installation in Brooklyn is any indication, having artwork tower over art lovers in New York can make the cityscape a lot more interesting. Something that might do just that (as evidenced by these mock-up photos) is the proposed Water Tank Project, except instead of a new structure, existing water tanks (twelve feet high, thirteen feet in diameter) in NYC will be used as canvases for public art. Releases: Jeff Soto – “Seeker Friends #4: The Gardener”

Back in March, we introduced you to a new line of prints from Jeff Soto (interviewed) entitled Seeker Friends. The series of limited editions were from Prints On Wood with each one available for 24 hours after a specified date and time. Each 6″ x 6″ print costs $25 + shipping with $1 of every sale going to plant one tree through the Plant A Billion Trees program. Yoshitomo Nara – No Nukes!

As protests mount in Japan over the decision to restart two nuclear reactors at the Oi power plant, Yoshitomo Nara has granted permission (via twitter) to his fans to make use of his NO NUKES girl image in support of the movement. The Japanese artist has said he wouldn’t mind photocopies of the piece from his 1998 book Slash with a Knife” and actually, a hi-res version has been made available here for download. Legendary artist David Lynch recently got together with Dom Pérignon for a collaborative project. The American filmmaker, television director, visual artist, musician, and actor designed some limited versions of the Champagne brand’s bottles along with the packaging featuring the theme of flickering lights.
