This Saturday night (August 4th), Thinkspace in Los Angeles will be opening a new show from Alex Garant entitled Voyage of The Insomniac. Between 8th of July and 9th of September 2018 a series of six individual exhibitions will be on view in Macao, organized as a part of the annual art exhibition program between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries. Flow Separation is ingenious new project completed recently by Tauba Auerbach where her process driven work was applied to the historic John J. Harvey Fireboat. Commissioned by the Public Art Fund and 14-18 NOW (the UK’s arts program for the centenary of World War I), the first major public work from the New York-based took 21 days to complete with a team that taped, rollered, stenciled, hand brushed the entire surface of the boat. Showing: KAWS – “HOLIDAY” Floating Companion @ Seokchon Lake (Seoul)

Judging from these photos, the long teased project from KAWS in Seoul has finally launched with his inflatable companion deployed in Seokchon Lake. Returning to Korea (see 2016) with a 92-foot-long (28 meters) floating HOLIDAY version of his signature character (and associated merch), the Brooklyn-based artist has harnessed the perfect relaxed vibe for this summertime installation. This piece is KAWS’ largest work to date and was masterminded by AllRightsReserved, follow in the footsteps of other similar installations like Florentijn Hofman’s giant floating duck in Hong Kong (covered). Artist Brad Kunkle recently shared a piece he painted that holds deep meaning for him, inspired by the 39 days it took for him to be reunited with his lost dog Shadow in 2015. Entitled The Golden Corridor and embellished with the New York-based artist’s practice of using of gold leaf, the diptych is steeped in symbolism from circumstances surrounding the incident.
