Preview: Ryan McLennan – “New Works” @ David B. Smith Gallery

New York-based artist, Ryan McLennan, will be traveling to Denver this coming weekend with a new body of work in tote for art enthusiasts in the Mile High City. Opening Friday, January 28th in tandem with Laura Ball (previewed) at David B. Smith Gallery, New Works (teased) will showcase the adept painterly realism coupled with subtly surrealistic compositions for which the West Collection recognized as worthy of their Grand Prize last year. Preview: Laura Ball – “New Works” @ David B. Smith Gallery

As part of a two person exhibition on tap next weekend at David B. Smith Gallery, Laura Ball will bring her animal imagery to Denver in striking fashion. Opening Friday, January 28th, New Works (teased) will highlight a series of the California artist’s watercolor works on paper, where colorfully rendered landscapes are set upon stark white backdrops thus sharpening the drama of the scenarios. Disparate animals are playfully clumped together as one to create larger animal forms, perhaps proving commentary on the interconnectedness of all […]

Teaser: Andy Denzler – “Freeze Frame Paintings” @ Michael Schultz Gallery (Seoul)

Swiss contemporary artist Andy Denzler will be dispatching a new body of work down to Seoul, Korea for an upcoming solo exhibition with Michael Shultz Gallery. Opening Thursday, Janurary 27th, the talented oil painter will show a selection of his uniquely constructed works, deliberately fragmenting his landscape based portraits in unusual ways. The resulting imagery almost has a look of a digital image in which the pixels had been reassembled imprecisely or the feel of a fading memory being recounted in ambiguous detail. With work […]

The boxes were cleanly packaged and reminded us of our first fresh box of KK’s! Like all […]

Studio Visit/Preview – Pema Rinzin

We recently had the honor of visiting the studio of Pema Rinzin as he was preparing for his solo exhibition entitled Compassion Transformed, which opens January 27 at the Joshua Liner Gallery. Rinzin is a master of traditional Tibetan Thangka painting and also founder of the New York Tibetan Art Studio, where he passes on his knowledge and skill. However, he came onto AM’s radar last Spring, when a trio of his works on paper stood out from Joshua Liner’s Barnstormers show as some of […]
