Basel Week Miami ’10 – Faurschou

Walking into Copenhagen and Beijing-based Faurschou’s booth at Art Basel Miami Beach was like walking into a carefully-curated, intimate museum show. With pieces by Ai Weiwei (including a half-million dollar sunflower pile that was created pre-Tate), Cai Guo-Qiang, Robert Rauschenberg, and Lucian Freud, everywhere you looked, you saw near-masterpieces. One of the notable booths from this year’s Art Basel was Los Angeles’ Michael Kohn Gallery. Some of our favorite artists like Camille Rose Garcia (interviewed), Ed Ruscha and Ryan McGinness were among the varied mix of talent represented. Another treat was a separate showcase where Kohn displayed a series of new works from Mark Ryden. Check it all out after the jump.
