The London Police opened a huge show last week in Los Angeles at the Carmichael Gallery located out on La Brea. The art lovers of LA came out in strong numbers to support the show and to catch the premiere of the Ashton Kutcher produced “Brothers In Arms” short film (teased)Â that chronicled 5 days of the TLP being handcuffed together during the final touches of their show. Last Saturday, Scionâ€™sÂ Installation Art TourÂ which originally started at Art Basel – Miami last year, arrived at it’s final destination – Culver City.Â After stops in Detroit, Phoenix, Minneapolis, New York, San Jose, Philadelphia, and Portland, this year’sÂ “Self Portraits” themed artÂ will be auctioned off (artnet) to benefitÂ Creative Capital,Â a national artist support organization.Â Take a look at the opening as well as all the art work after the jump and get to bidding as there are bargains to be had…

One of the more interesting artists from Lazarides, Jonathan Yeo, just released a video featuring some of his recent work; his porn collages in particular. On Saturday night, Evan Hecox premiered his first solo, “The Last Thousand Years,” (previewed) in New York. Joshua Liner Gallery was filled with fans eager to get a glimpse of his work. The Vietnamese themed show dazzled onlookers as Evan took the time greet and draw for many of his fans with his book “Urban Abstract” in hand. Los Angeles based fine artist Mike Stilkey will be having a solo exhibition at David B. Smith Gallery in Denver, CO, this coming Friday, September 18th, from 7-10pm with Stilkey in attendance at the opening reception. This is Stilkey’s first solo show with this gallery and the artist will have 20 new pieces, including book sculptures and paintings, and he will also be creating an impressive on-site installation. We recently previewed a coupleÂ of pieces from Brian Donnelly’s solo outing “Blasphemies, Monstrosities, & Other Perversions,” which opened last week at Show and Tell Gallery in Toronto.Â We thought theÂ pieces we saw looked like a strong indication that Donnelly would be putting together a compelling body of work. We recently tipped you off about the upcoming MichaelÂ Jordan Hall of Fame Tribute Series created by Shepard Fairey and Upper Deck. Now the final two images have been revealed.Â The first is of his Hall of Fame induction portrait andÂ secondÂ of his “Air-ness” in his UNC blue days.
