A fast rising star in the UK art scene, Chloe Early opened her solo show Ladies and Gentleman We Are Spinning in Space this weekend at StolenSpace Gallery in London. Chloe’s fantastical works provide a window into a blended world where abstract meets architectural backdrops. Openings: Clowns! @ Corey Helford Gallery

The Clowns! (previewed) show opened last night in Culver City and AM contributor Marcus was on hand to snap some photos. Openings: House Industries @ Subliminal Projects

This past Saturday night, Subliminal Projects was decked out in the typographical patterns of House Industries. The Delaware based group showcased a new collection of prints and patterns and transformed the gallery into a graphical delight that showcased just what some simple fonts can do. Openings: Pour Me Some Smoke – Carmichael Gallery

On a weekend packed full of great shows, the Carmichael Gallery opening reception was one of AM’s first stops. Fresh off moderating the successful Bonham’s Contemporary Street panel, up next for Carmichael was the “Pour Me Some Smoke” group show which offered a wide variety of contemporary flavors. Studio Visits: Jeff Soto (Part II)

Here is Part II of our visit to Jeff Soto’s studio (see part I here). Besides showing us some of his new work for his upcoming show at the Riverside Art Museum, Jeff also decided to let us watch him paint. At first, there were just splotches of color he used as the background, but soon characteristic shapes and details were added. It was a real joy to watch Jeff at work and amazing how quickly he worked. See the process after the jump.
