Art Focus: Atsuko Goto

Continuing our Art Focus series of articles, we now turn your attention to the work of Atsuko Goto. Working with a soft and ethereal touch, the Tokyo-born artist’s imagery draws inspiration from the Shinto religion where divinity manifests itself in multiple forms: rocks, trees, rivers, animals, places, and even people. Created with glue, pigments, gum arabic, Lapis-lazuli on cotton, the hazy and dreamlike nature of her work can be partially attributed to her choice of mediums. Via Hi Fructose. Dan May New Paintings And Prints

Today at noon (Eastern time), Dan May (interviewed) will be releasing some new prints online on his webstore. The limited editions are priced affordably, but for those interested, you can also email him – danmayinfo (at) gmail.com – about buying the original paintings that the images are taken from. Releases: Shepard Fairey x Cleon Peterson – “Pattern of Corruption” Prints

Tomorrow, January 27th, at a random time between 10 am and 12 noon PST, a some collaborative prints will be released between Shepard Fairey and Cleon Peterson. Featuring the Pattern of Corruption used in one of their joint murals in Miami’s Wynwood district (covered), painted during  Basel Week Miami, the striking imagery will be released in 3 different pairs of colorways –  Black/White, Gold/Black and Blue/White. LA Art Show ’15: Recap

Last week, AM attended the LA Art Show to see what the fair had to offer collectors in Los Angeles. Celebrating their 20th year anniversary, the event featured over 120 galleries representing 22 countries including the a special section called Littletopia (like last year) featuring galleries promoting the sub genre of the new contemporary art movement, low brow art, pop surrealism, as well as street & urban art.
