Coates and Scarry will be curating an exhibition entitled Unnatural-Natural History that will be opening on July 14th at the Royal West of England Academy. Included are 38 diverse artists making their entry into this theme to see how different they can make nature look. Last week in New York, the Joshua Liner Gallery played host to artist and tattoo specialist Shawn Barber’s (interviewed) new solo – Memoir: The Tattooed Portraits Series. The new body of work features portraits of notables in the body inking subculture (many of them the painter’s close friends) as well works featuring various selections of tattoo paraphernalia. Opening on July 4th, America’s Independence Day, Letters From America at Black Rat Projects will bring work from US artists SABER, RISK, Ron English, and TrustoCorp to the UK. Releases: Ron English – “American Depress” @ Kidrobot

Ron English (featured) recently created a new vinyl sculpture with toy maker Kidrobot for their ultra limited Kidrobot Black line. Entitled American Depress, the 12-inch figure depicts Ron’s version of a bloated Mickey Mouse ensnared in a Amex “Black Card” credit trap. Yes, Comic-Con is almost upon us again. As always with SDCC, there is bound to be some art-related news or exhibitions in association with the event. One of these is Cartoon Network’s 20th Anniversary Exhibition curated by Mark Murphy with 75 artists slated to participate.
