Preview: Armory Week ’11 – Rebaroque Artist Series Sound Wall @ Scope New York

A special project taking place at this year’s Scope New York art fair is the Rebaroque Artist Series Sound Wall, a collaborative audio/visual installation featuring Rebaroque sound panels—art and design objects created from vintage fabrics and frames that include speakers through which you can play sound or music from an iPod or other device. Preview: Andy Kehoe – “Strange Wanderings” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

Video: Greg Simkins’ mural @ Mid-City Arts

Recently, Greg “Craola” Simkins (featured) spent some time at Mid-City Arts in Los Angeles working on a mural. Take a look at this timelapse footage as he painted some of his classic imagery including the pedestal, cloud, honeycomb, and elephant. His next project is curating the INLE group show (lineup) at Gallery 1988, an ode to his favorite book Watership Down and source for much of the symbology in his work. Openings: POW WOW ’11

The weeks of setup for the POW WOW ’11 in Honolulu culminated in blowout showcase bringing together talent from different parts of the world. People all over Hawaii came to take part in the celebration where performance, photography, graffiti, and fine art intersected. Artists such as Will Barras, Meggs, Ekundayo, Prime, Jeff Hamada, 123Klan, Aaron de la Cruz, Kamea Hadar, Suitman and Jasper Wong created unique indoor and outdoor site specific art for display at the giant Loft in Space venue behind Fresh Cafe. Happy Presidents’ Day

For those of you lucky enough to have today off work in the States, here is Ron English’s (featured) salute to the Presidents’ Day holiday.
