Remember back in July of last year, when Jonathan Yeo brought his series of works and portraits created from collaged pornography to Beverly Hills. It was part of a series of shows put on by Steve Lazarides in a temporary gallery and was entitled “Porn in the USA” (covered). Apparently, they were filming the whole time. Take a look above as Yeo and Lazarides are interviewed – all with the backdrop of some nice behind-the-scenes footage.

The year is going by fast – it’s already the middle of March. As usual, there are many interesting art openings to get out to this weekend including a show from Miss Van in France. Magda Danysz Gallery will be hosting Twinkles, a new body of work from the French street artist who hasn’t shown in her home country in a while. Portland-based Japanese modern pop artist, Yumiko Kayukawa opened her seventh solo show at Shooting Gallery on Saturday in SF. The show featured her signature acrylic and ink based works full of color, girls, animals, personal narrative, and imagination. The show’s title, “Rock You in a Tatami Room” is derived from a term Yumiko came up with while creating the works in the show, which reflects her career and life in the U.S., as well as her style. Last week, the Live On Sunset venue in Los Angeles hosted the Travis Barker’s Give The Drummer Some Art show. We aren’t sure if all the art is really going to the Blink-182 drummer but it would make for an interesting addition to his collection with artists like David Choe, Jeff Soto, Chris Peters, Pushead, Haze, Mike Giant, and Mr. Cartoon in the lineup. AM attended the private opening for Colin and Sas Christian’s (interviewed) latest show Sas + Colin at New York’s Opera Gallery. As the title states, the main focus was the wife and husband collaborations which brought their unique talents together for a visually stunning exhibition. Sas utilized her hyper realistic painting styles to bring the futuristic subjects to life, while Colin brought the physical presence with his beautifully detailed fiberglass sculptures. Gifting NYC with joint solo shows along with Andy Kehoe (covered), Gary Baseman offered up a more somber and personal body of work at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery last Saturday night entitled Walking Through Walls.
