Gifting NYC with joint solo shows along with Andy Kehoe (covered), Gary Baseman offered up a more somber and personal body of work at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery last Saturday night entitled Walking Through Walls.  Experimenting with combining his painting techniques with collage, silkscreen, and found photographs from his collection, Gary built a show that centered around the notion of “walking through walls – moving through the different divisions of society, challenging expectations, and finding freedom.” The new works also featured another common theme of skeletons and ghosts (including a new Lil Miss Boo character), building on a darker mood that definitely was influenced by the passing of his father last year.
