Upcoming: Seonna Hong – “In Our Nature” @ Hashimoto Contemporary

On October 8th, Seonna Hong (interviewed) will be opening a new exhibition at Hashimoto Contemporary entitled In Our Nature. The Los Angeles-based artist looks to be continuing her series of works that feature her girl characters and their animal companions as they explore roughly painted landscapes and geometric shapes. Previews: “LAX / ORD” @ Vertical Gallery

Continuing their series of curatorial group shows, Thinkspace will be bringing their roster of artists to Chicago on September 3rd at Vertical Gallery. Like previous iterations, the show is titled after the airports of Los Angeles, where the gallery is based and the location where they are visiting – LAX / ORD. Previews: David Lyle – “Formative Years” @ Bale Creek Allen Gallery

On September 2nd, David Lyle will be presenting a new body of work at Bale Creek Allen in Austin, Texas. Formative Years will focus thematically on the childhood years and will continue his series of works inspired by found vintage and vernacular photographs, remixed with his satire and unique artistic vision. Rendered using only black paint and turpentine, Lye’s special technique involves painting and removing paint with a cloth at the same time. Discuss David Lyle here.

Releases: Rod Luff – “Afterglow” Print

The People’s Print Shop recently released a new limited edition from Rod Luff entitled Afterglow. Available in a signed and numbered run of 30, the image from the Sydney-based artist is taken from his piece from the recent Moleskin V group show which he co-curated.
