Los Angeles based artist and master of wood figures, Amanda Visell, opens her solo show “Primeval Love” tonight, April 9th, at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles. Visell’s artwork has a retro-vintage feel to it like classic Disney work and it appears she has tailored her subject matter to match the locale perfectly. Masters of whimsy, APAK, will be opening their solo show “Garden Of Light” tonight in Chicago. Just like in their last two shows (here & here), the husband and wife duo continue to build many-colored worlds for their lovable creatures to explore and enjoy. Openings: Roa @ Pure Evil Gallery

Looks like the first look at Roa’s show comes from gifted street photographer, RomanyWG, as he stopped by to take some photos of the pieces and installations at the Pure Evil Gallery. As with Roa’s show in Paris, his paintings look to be on found items or well constructed objects with moving parts that allow a juxtaposition of multiple layers of overlaying painting surfaces. The “WE HEART WOOD” customs show opens tonight, April 8th, at Munky King in Melrose with dynamic duo Noferin inviting 30 of their artists friends to customize their latest blind box mini wood toys – Jibibuts. Not all artists have what it takes to paint on 3D surfaces, but masters of the art like Jeremiah Ketner, Doktor A, Dan May, Yoskay Yamamoto, and Stella Im Hultberg make it look easy with an awesome collection little works of art. Parisian artist LUDO (interviewed) took time recently to put up some new works in the streets even while working on his first solo show next month in Paris. We are definitely looking forward to seeing how his works translate in the gallery setting, but from the look of things, he’s continuing to explore his “Nature’s Revenge” series. Ron English x Slash Hudson “R & FN’ R” Album Cover

Off the heels of news that D*Face designed Christina Aguilera’s new album cover comes more news that Ron English (featured) designed the album cover for Slash’s (of Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver fame) solo album. The album, entitled “R & FN’ R” features a skull and crossbones with a hat, all rendered in classic English style. Also if you look closer, you can see Ron English “angels” worked into the paisley swirls in the background. More detailed views after the jump.
