Openings: Jeremy Fish – “The Road Less Traveled Tour” @ Andenken

Jeremy Fish (featured) closed out the first leg of his “Road Less Traveled” tour (previewed) last weekend at Denver’s Andenken Gallery. Opening to a packed house, Jeremy held court at the Queen City of the Plains, providing residents with a new mural and dozen of prints and new originals. The concept of the tour, to be able to provide fans and galleries that are somewhat off the beaten path with small yet fresh shows, seems to be off to a great start. Expect the tour […]

New York native Justin BUA, whom we recently met at the “Who Killed The Music” Grammy Art Show”, will be opening his solo show (both old and new works) at the Pop International Gallery on Thursday, March 25. Justin, who is currently teaching at USC, takes inspiration from urban culture and in particular the Harlem Renaissance. Streets: Various & Gould

Looks like the German street tagteam of Various & Gould have been out and about pasting up art on the streets around the Brooklynite Gallery where they opened a show last week (previewed). Their eclectic and colorful representations of what look to be circus performers definitely brightened up the neighborhood. More images after the jump…

Openings: Andrew Schoultz – “Crisis” @ Jerome Zodo Contemporary (Milan)

A while back, we posted a preview of Andrew Schoultz’s solo in Italy at the Jerome Zodo Contemporary. Well, he has kindly sent us some images of the incredible installation he has put together at the Milan Gallery that opened on the March 11th and runs through the end of April, including large murals, crumbling walls, telephone poles and wires – just an all encompassing experience. More images after the jump…

Streets: Pixadores attack mural by Os Gemeos, NUNCA, NINA, Finok, and Zefix

Proving that tensions between graffiti artists and street artists are not just a phenomena of the western world (see banksy vs. robbo), Pixacao artists in Sao Paulo have defaced a mural by Os Gemeos, NUNCA, NINA, Finok, and Zefix. They are probably angry that the mayor of Sao Paulo, after creating the project “Clean City” in 2006 (which erased much of the illegal graffiti) is using public funds for commissioning legal writers and famous street artists. This all at a time when the government is […]

For those looking to improve the look of their skin, tighten their pores and clarify and balance their skin’s texture while at the same time raising money for a worthy cause and adding some great art to their lives, today is your lucky day. In celebration of Earth Day, the beloved brand Kiehl’s has recruited Jeff Koons, Pharrell Williams, Julianne Moore, and surfer Malia Jones to design limited edition bottle labels for their Acai Damage-Protecting Mist, as part of their “Friends of Kiehl’s” initiative. Releases: Ryan McGinley – “Everybody Knows This is Nowhere” Limited Edition Book

To accompany Ryan McGinley’s insanely popular exhibition (the opening had to be shut down by the fire marshal due to the volume of the crowd) Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, Dashwood Books has released a limited edition, hardcover book featuring images from the acclaimed photographer’s current show at Team Gallery. The $95 book, an edition of 2,000, is the artist’s “most ambitious book to date, a beautifully produced volume, luxuriously printed in tritone with a folded poster wrap.” It looks as though all 100 images […]

Openings: Barnstormers @ Joshua Liner Gallery

The beautiful weather and the promise of great art seemingly brought out all the five boroughs Thursday night for the opening of the Barnstormers show at Joshua Liner Gallery. The exhibition – which was so large that it overflowed Liner’s third floor space into an entire other gallery on the floor below – leaned toward presenting individual works from the diverse group of artists, instead of toward collaborative installations as expected. Of course, pieces by stars of the original scene such as David Ellis, Swoon, […]

Preview / Interviews: Edwin Ushiro – “At Night, Lights Fell and Loved Ones Returned Home” @ Sloan Fine Art

As we mentioned in our teaser a couple weeks ago, Edwin Ushiro will be opening his show “At Night, Lights Fell and Loved Ones Returned Home” this Wednesday at Sloan Fine Art. AM was looking forward to this show after his impressive showing at Lebasse Projects last September and were lucky enough to be able to catch up with Edwin for an interview recently where he discusses his thoughts behind the show, some of his process, and LOST among other things. Take a look at […]

Preview: Ian Francis – “Exodus” @ Lazarides Rathbone Place

It’s almost time for Ian Francis (featured) to unveil his latest show “Exodus” this week at London’s Lazarides (Rathbone Place). To say that we are looking forward to the show is an understatement. From what we’ve seen so far, the show looks to be very strong as his dream weaving style touches on pop references with subjects like reporters, ghosts, opera houses, and even Macy’s. Ian also has more surprises for this show that we’ll reveal to you with our opening night coverage. For now check […]
