Preview: Jeremiah Ketner – “Ideal World” @ myplasticheart

On August 9th, Jeremiah Ketner (interviewed) will be opening another solo show at myplasticheart in New York. Entitled Ideal World, the exhibition will put the Chicago-based painter’s surreal musings on display. He states: “Ideal World is the continuation of a theme I have been exploring for several years now. I wanted to create a place of luxury for the mind. A place where everything is tranquil and all forms of life can coexist without any reference to the past or future. This timeless notion allows sprites […]

Sat One & ROID Paint Boeing 737

Sat One & ROID recently came together for an enormous collaboration set up by The Hanger One Project where they were tasked with painting a Boeing 737. Jonathan Yeo Paints Damien Hirst

Several months ago, we told you about a big solo show coming up from Jonathan Yeo at the National Portrait Gallery in London. A new image has been released leading up to the opening on September 11th that reveals one of the subjects of Yeo’s contemporary portraiture as Damien Hirst. Videos: John Knuth – “Fly Paintings” for MOCAtv

MOCAtv recently released a video detailing the novel work of John Knuth and his little “assistants.” By feeding pigments to the over 250,000 common houseflies that were used in this new series of paintings, Knuth is able to create his artwork from the regurgitations over the canvases that form the insects’ environment. Make sure you get to the end of the video where you will see the resulting pieces…

Streets: DALeast (Rochester, NY)

Chinese artist DALeast (interviewed), was back in Rochester, NY, last week. Almost exactly one year since last time he visited the city (covered), he once again left a recognizable mural for the Wall Therapy festival. This time, he worked on a big 6 meters high wall by 30 meters long approximately, and created an image that fits beautifully with his dynamic 3D style. This image of an eagle taking off and picking up the wave, while the boat that is almost capsized by it looks like it’s […]

Streets: Etam Cru (Richmond, Virginia)

Polish artists Sainer and Bezt, better known as Etam Cru, recently painted another fantastic mural on the streets of Richmond, for the local Richmond Mural Project. After gracing the grey, dull walls of many Eastern European cities with their bright, colorful images, they confirmed their reputation with another beautiful untitled mural for their fans in the US. Known for their surrealistic images, Sainer and Bezt made a piece showing a naked  girl, sitting in a jar filled with unripe strawberry jam, accompanied with their familiar […]

Upcoming: Eric Joyner – “First World Problems” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Robot and donut enthusiast Eric Joyner (interviewed) will be opening a solo show at Corey Helford Gallery on August 10th, his fifth with the Culver City showspace. Unlike his last show (covered) which featured his old school mechanical characters in the natural setting, the new paintings depict them in the city along with their dependable fried dessert friends. Rife with irony, First World Problems will see his robots dealing with the “struggles” of urban coexistence. Discuss Eric Joyner here.
