On November 8th, the Carmichael Gallery will be presenting Like Father, Like Son : NYC at a popup space in New York (6 to 8pm, 303 Tenth Ave in Chelsea). Streets: JR – “I Am a Man” Mural / Unframed Project (Washington, D.C.)

French photographer and street activist JR, who was just featured in a video for the new MOCAtv channel, was also recently in Washington, D.C. working on a mural for his Unframed Project where he takes archived images and uses them in a different context. Openings: Camilla d’Errico & Brandi Milne – “The Candy Escape” @ Cotton Candy Machine

Last weekend, Camilla d’Errico (above) and Brandi Milne showcased new bodies of work at Brooklyn’s Cotton Candy Machine. Entitled The Candy Escape, this exhibition from both artists delighted New Yorkers and Comicon–goers alike. Camilla, who is back from a one year hiatus from fine art, took her unique mix of manga and illustrative techniques to a sold out return. While fresh off Baby Tattooville, the Los Angeles-based Milne displayed her somber and surreal paintings for Williamsburg art lovers to enjoy. Discuss this show here. Set Up / Preview: Gary Baseman – “Nightmares of Halloween Past” @ KK Gallery

This Saturday, October 20th, the KK Gallery in Los Angeles’ Chinatown Arts District will be holding their debut show featuring Gary Baseman’s  (featured) Nightmares of Halloween Past. The new body of work is an ode to Baseman’s favorite holiday and includes a series of haunting original paintings, special edition prints, installations and videos.
