This past weekend, New York’s Cotton Candy Machine hosted their second annual “tiny” art showcase entitled Tiny Trifecta. As we mentioned in our preview, artists this year upped the ante as each created three pieces of original artwork for fans who may not have the opportunity to purchase their larger scale works. Openings: Colin Christian – “Hello, Pretty Pretty” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Over the weekend, alongside new work from RISK, the talented Colin Christian (interviewed) put a selection of his sculptural creations on display at the Corey Helford Gallery. Much like his showing in Texas earlier in the year (covered), the new body of work collectively entitled Hello, Pretty Pretty featured a mix of free standing figures and wall mounted faces, all produced in Christian’s signature cyber-erotic aesthetic. Openings: RISK – “Old Habits Die Hard” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Over the weekend, the Corey Helford Gallery unveiled a new body of work from the LA-based graffiti artist RISK. The Culver City showspace had only recently curated a group exhibition including RISK that is currently showing in the UK (covered) and Old Habits Die Hard builds on the work from that show with further explorations into neon creations and sculptural pieces. Damien Hirst Donates Artwork To Burger King

Not content to just have his work displayed in an upmarket Shoreditch eatery (Tramshed Restaurant), British artist Damien Hirst has gone to the other end of the market and donated a piece of art to the Burger King in Leicester Square. The newly remodeled “Flameship” restaurant is located in the heart of London’s biggest tourist district which means visitors in town for the upcoming Olympics will come up close and personal with the spin painting. Streets: David Choe (Hawaii)

After news broke earlier this year that David Choe’s (featured) Facebook stock had made him a very rich man, he was last seen getting interviewed by Howard Stern and Barbara Walters. Looks like he’s finally surfaced on the Big Island of Hawaii where he picked up some paint again to work on a wall featuring classic Choe imagery with imaginative and random creatures. Streets: Megx – “Lego Bridge” (Germany)

Giving into childhood nostalgia, Megx (Martin Heuwold) has painted an old train overpass in Germany to resemble LEGO blocks. The whimsical painted installation on the bridge  in Wuppertal, which has now been converted into a bicycle and pedestrian path, took the street artist nearly four weeks to complete. The result is certainly better, or at least more interesting, than before – don’t you agree? Via Designboom.

For our newest Art Focus feature, we turn our attention to the sculptures of Korean artist Hyungkoo Lee. His Homo Animatus series of works feature skeletal representations of familiar cartoon characters created out of resin, aluminum sticks, stainless steel wires, springs, and oil paint. Last week, the Black Rat Projects opened a show curated by Corey Helford Gallery entitled Letters From America. The group exhibition included American artists SABER, RISK, Ron English, and TrustoCorp taking advantage of the July 4th holiday (US Independence Day) to introduce London art lovers to work from across the pond that they may not have seen in person before.
