Streets: Os Gemeos x Futura in NYC (Part 3)

As we continue to monitor the progress of the Os Gemeos x Futura mural on 320 West 21st Street in New York, we have received a new set of pics from AM photographer, Joe Russo. As you can see, the twins are almost done with their part of the mural, namely the figurative portions and the “flag pants.” Soon, Futura will be starting in on the shirt and his portion of the mural. Teaser: Yoskay Yamamoto @ Roq La Rue

After a great solo showing at LeBasse Projects, Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed) is already hard at work for his coming show at Roq La Rue September 10th. Showing along side peer Edwin Ushiro (interviewed), Mr. Yamamoto is set to unleash a new set of images for Seattle’s finest. We stopped by Yoskay’s downtown studio for a sneak peek at his new body of work. Check out a closer look at the fish after the jump.

Teaser: Brendan Monroe – “Figments” @ Galerie L.J.

Time flies. It has almost been a year since Brendan Monroe’s (interviewed) solo show at Richard Heller Gallery. In the meantime, he’s relocated to Sweden where he currently lives and works. His newest body of work entitled “Figments” will feature a collection of organic paintings and sculptures all done in his signature palette. Opening on September 4th, Brendan will be showing alongside his wife and fellow artist Evah Fan at Galerie L.J. in Paris. Discuss the show here. Discuss Brendan Monroe here.

Urban Art Photo Contest

Urban Art Core recently announced the winners of their “Urban Art Photo Contest” after going through over 500 entries. With two other judges, Luna Park and RJ from Vandalog, the winner of the contest was none other than the multi-talented Eelus, who is coincidentally preparing for his upcoming show at Brooklynite. After posting the mural project between Os Gemeos & Futura, we thought it wouldn’t be right to be in NYC and not stop by for an onsite AM look behind this project. A pretty epic collaboration piece is going down right now in NYC. After attending the opening of the PRISM group show, then hitting up Yosemite with Barry McGee, the twins have now started a huge mural with Futura in Chelsea. Os Gemeos is definitely on a roll after working with another legend, Blu, in Lisbon just a little while ago in May. Now, New York will have not one but two murals from the Brazilian duo.
