Brooklyn based artist Matt Haber opens a brand new solo show this week at The Bldg in Covington, Kentucky. We’ve followed Matt’s work for a number of years with his regular showings at Jonathan Levine in New York. It appears one of our lucky forum members was able to recently score a rare commission from Greg “Craola” Simkins‘ (featured) featuring none other than The Count and his Sesame Street crew (well, minus Ms. Piggy and Big Bird who are apparently dead in this alternate universe). After recent news that the Miami-based artist collaborative, Friends with You, customized a Rolls Royce for N.E.R.D., the trio have now released a music video for “Hot-n-Fun” featuring the said car as well as imagery from the artists scattered throughout the video. Friends With You also recently participated in the Wish Come True Festival during Luminato in Toronto, Ontario which included a pretty awesome outdoor installation. Not sure when or where this went up, but it looks to be a pretty sick “tag-athon” of this particular wall. As you can see, it seems both SF legends Twist (Barry McGee) & Amaze were involved in this piece as reported by Upper Playground. LACMA Purchases Tony Smith “Smoke” Sculpture

Those who have visited LACMA the past couple of years have seen and walked around Tony Smith’s monumental sculpture Smoke. The space that it inhabits in the Ahmanson Pavilion was actually redesigned (by Renzo Piano) specifically for the work. It would be unimaginable to think of the museum without the piece. Today, you won’t have to. The LA Times reports that LACMA has purchased it. The amount was not revealed, but it is said to exceed $3 million. It is insured for over $5 million, […]
