Openings: Futura – “Introspective” @ Magda Danysz (Paris)

Earlier this week, graffiti legend Futura created new work for a Paris show at Magda Danysz Gallery entitled Introspective. Drawing from many of the series of works that have defined his career, the NYC-based artist presented street influenced abstractions, figurative work featuring his pointman character, and paintings that included his famous atom motif. Rounding out the exhibition were a selection of manipulated photos similar to what fans have seen him post on his Instagram for a while now. Streets: LUDO (Paris)

LUDO (interviewed) spent the last weekend putting up new series of pasteups around his hometown of Paris, titled Love and Riot. The work is strongly motivated by the current situation in France and some other parts of Europe where he feels extremist far right politicians and parties are gaining more and more popularity. This trend by him was first seen in Greece, Hungary, UK, The Netherlands, and lately in France. Time for another one of our Streets: World Roundup articles. This new edition features up top a new collaboration wall from SABER (interviewed) and ZES at the Artist & Craftsman Supply building in Los Angeles. The two local and MSK affiliated writers combined their styles for an impressive wrap on the side of the structure. Showing: ROA – “PROJECTUM 06” @ StolenSpace Gallery

Currently showing at the StolenSpace Gallery in London through July 4th is an exhibition from ROA entitled PROJECTUM 06. The installation and new body of work featured his dissected portrayals of wildlife from the places he has traveled and reflects the work on the street from the Belgium-based artist. As per his style, many of his pieces have interactive aspects and deceptive visual props like mirrors which were enjoyed by all as they walked through the gallery. Photo credit: Paul Whitehouse. The New York graffiti legend and official art director for the team incorporated familiar elements of his work into the design including colorful abstractions in the background, his pointman character running the field, and soccer ball comparisons with his atom motif. Titifreak for Seido Restaurant (Rio de Janeiro)

Brazilian street artist Ttitfreak recently released photos of a mural he recently painted for Seido Restaurant in Rio de Janeiro. Drawing from his Japanese heritage, his imagery fits in perfectly with the cuisine in this restaurant which in this case featured one of the koi fish that we often see from him. During the craziness that was Art Basel Hong Kong, one of the events we attended was How & Nosm’s debut & celebration of their Sake Art Bottle at HK’s Yardbird as well as the unveiling of two site specific murals. As previewed, this unique collaboration project fused the restaurant’s artist sake line with the iconic color & styling of the German born twins. Favio Martínez aka Curiot is opening his first solo show in his homeland at Fifty24Mx gallery in Mexico City on the 14th of June. He is currently one of the more recognized urban artists of the country, with shows in Europe and USA under his belt, as well as large murals being painted around the world.
