Openings: “Three The Hard Way” @ Breeze Block Gallery

Earlier this month, the Breeze Block Gallery in Portland played host to a three-man show entitled Three The Hard Way. The three artists, Christopher Derek Bruno (interviewed), Augustine Kofie (featured), and Jerry ‘Joker’ Inscoe are all members of the Transcend Collective and have evolved their individual aesthetics while drawing from their graffiti background. Upcoming: Todd “REAS” James – “Swords & Sorcery” @ The Newsstand

Tomorrow (November 23, 3-9pm) in New York, Todd James will be releasing a zine at The Newsstand in Brooklyn (inside the Metropolitan Ave.-Lorimer St. stop on the G and L trains). Those attending the event will see a Sword & Sorcery themed installation based on the dungeons and dragons type pieces he has been posting onto his Instagram (some more of which are seen below) recently. Capetown-based artist DALeast is opening a highly anticipated solo show with The Outsiders in Newcastle on the 22nd of November. The title of the show, Redok, comes from a Tibetan phrase meaning “hope and fear,” and represents the emotions the artist tries to show with his works. The main part of this coherent new body of work are six large scale acrylic on canvas pieces on tea stained backgrounds, created over many months. Danish artist, graffiti writer and illustrator, HuskMitNavn (RememberMyName in Danish), recently released a book of drawings – Offline. The title of the book is the artist’s response to the trend of our life moving into the online realm, with help of virtual communication and social networks. A book release was held on the 15th November at Schaefer Grafisk in Copenhagen where 92 original drawings featured in a book were exhibited and available.
